Chorley's Angels are now being recognized by royalty! We have been doing first aid awareness sessions for the Princes Trust, as part of their course, for a few years now. As recognition of this, the Angel's have been presented with an official Thank You!
The Angels were honored when on the 3rd March, they were named as the latest organisation to benefit from the hugely popular Chorley Got Soul party nights. Attendees to the event, which was organised by Chorley Councillor Margaret Lees, was attended by over 200 people, partied on down the great classics of Soul, Mowtown and Funk. over £1800 was raised by the generous donations of the party goers, and these well appreciated funds will go towards furthering our services to the community.
The Angels were invited to participate in Cardinal Newman College's Open Day in November to demonstrate essential First Aid and life saving skills to students. By the end of the day, dozens of students were given the opportunity to learn and practice key skills that could be used in everyday situations, and beyond. The team, compromising of both young and old Angel's alike, including current Newman students, delivered a program that was both entertaining, but also focused and interactive to all students who attended. Feedback from the successful event also included: Useful and hands-on, young, relatable teachers. Good - fun quiz at the end. Active participation. Confident, informative, helpful. Well-lead, well informed trainers, good refresher for those who have done it before. Very informative, useful / practical, inspiring Year 13 students delivered. Informative and interesting session, lots of useful information. The opportunity to try CPR was good. Record another successful and productive day for the Chorley's Angels!
The Angels had a nice surprise when Frank Jones and George Seddon from the Province of West Lancashire Freemasons dropped into the group to hand over a cheque for £200. Accepting the cheque is Debbie Tomlinson Treasurer of Chorley's Angels Community Community
The presentation of first aid certificates to Year 11 pupils from Brownedge St Mary's School. Chorley's Angels took it upon themselves to deliver the course to all 150 pupils. Well done to them all and we hope that the skills learnt will stay with them and assist them as they develop careers for themselves.
Fantastic News! Chorley's Angels have once again been successful in securing money from the ASDA community green token scheme. A cheque was presented to the Angels alongside Homestart Central Lancashire and Lancashire Buccaneers who also received cheques. The cash will go towards equipment for the 'Angels of Life' project being rolled out across the borough. Chorley's Angels would like to thank ASDA and of course all the members of the Chorley community who appreciate what we do and took the time to pop the tokens into our box...thanks Chorley!!
